Digital and physical, engaging and exciting

New episodes of the Azaya comic are released regularly online at www.azaya.com. The comic will also be collected in print.

The comic tells the story about Kiya, a brave and curious red panda girl. Together with her friends Yachu and Glong, she is drawn into the magical world of Azaya. Kiya becomes the leader of the Azatars, a group of colorful animal heroes. The Azatars are fighting against dark powers and ecological threats all over the world.

How it’s done

Script
The script is written by Edward Antov, founder of Jungle Peak and creator of Azaya.

Layouts
Lead artist Fredrik Andersson creates pencil sketches of each page.

Bringing the content to life

Pencils
Fredrik hands over his pages to penciller Michael Gullbrandson, who adds details and shading. Michael’s art looks very much like finished pages.

Inking
Michael’s finished pencils are sent from Gothenburg to Comicup Studio in Barcelona, where master inker Tony Fernanez adds the finishing touches.

Coloring
Comicup’s coloring team color the pages under guidance from Jungle Peak’s colorist Stina Lövkvist.

Lettering
Balloons and captions are added digitally on top of the finished artwork.

Publishing
The complete, translated pages are exported for use in Jungle Peak’s innovative flash-based Comic Reader application.
